About

Welcome to the Wallet Wings blog, I’m glad that you’re here! My name is Brian Hills and I am the writer/author of this blog. Wallet Wings is a personal finance blog that provides tips, tricks, and strategies with the goal of helping people save and earn more money. It is not easy to save money (especially in these times!) considering all of the different expenses needed to live a comfortable and modern lifestyle. Most of us have to pay for transportation, housing, insurance, schooling, water, electric, food, entertainment, vacations, and more. We need to constantly manage our spending and earning to ensure that all of our bills are paid and that we are saving enough for retirement.

Successfully managing your personal finances requires a tremendous amount of education, discipline, strategy, and dedication. Unfortunately, personal finance is not taught thoroughly enough in the school system throughout the United States and the world. Many people struggle with their finances on a daily basis. Therefore, it is up to you to take your education into your own hands and learn as much as possible about the subject. You can expand your knowledge by reading articles on this website, books, other finance websites, and watching educational YouTube videos. As you know, earning and saving more money in your personal life can be a huge benefit to you and your family. Investing your time, money, and energy into becoming a mini financial expert can really payoff in the long run. Put the work in and you won’t regret it!

Now, who is Brian Hills? Well thank you for asking! My name is Brian and I am from sunny South Florida. Since I was a young boy, I have always had an interest in money and saving money. My parents taught me from a young age to be a good saver and investor. Here is a quick and funny money story from when I was a kid where I took saving money a bit too far. One day when I was a child, my Dad jokingly asked me if he could borrow a penny. I looked at the penny in my hand and thought about how much I did not want to lose that penny. What if he forgot to pay me back? What if he lost my penny? What if he couldn’t pay me back? I looked right at him with a serious face and told him that he could not borrow my penny. Can you believe I said that? Me either, very embarrassing!! My Dad burst out laughing and so did I. That moment taught me that I was being very selfish with my money. It is very important to save your money and you should try to do so as much as possible, but don’t be greedy and fearful with it.

As I grew older, saving money and thoughtful spending was always a part of my life. I continued to stay interested in learning about money in high school and all throughout my college years. I even graduated college with a double major and Finance was one of those degrees. Once I started working a full time job, I began saving money utilizing a 401k (still do) and I ensure that I contribute enough money to receive my employee 401k match. Additionally, I created an emergency fund, saved money in my bank account, opened a non retirement brokerage account, and dabbled in different types of investments. I am now in my 40s and I have spent hundreds maybe even thousands of hours reading articles and books about personal finance and investing. I created this website to share what I have learned about money and also to showcase some of the best personal finance products/services that I use or like. I encourage you to sign up for my free email newsletter and also to follow me on X, my user name is @WalletWings.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you enjoy reading this blog. Remember, saving is better than spending!
